Total Lunar Eclipse
20 degrees Virgo
On April 4th there is a total Lunar eclipse in Virgo. Eclipses are generally good for spiritual pursuits like introspection, reflection and meditation. This is a good time to go on a retreat. In Virgo it can favor the process of self analysis. This lunar eclipse also takes place in the last part of Virgo, symbolized by a tall woman, dressed in white, going into a temple, carrying a pot and a spoon, with a great sense of sanctity. This makes the eclipse a great time for doing rituals, or for creating sacred space in your surroundings.
This particular eclipse takes place in Hastha nakshatra. Hastha is a nakshatra that is symbolized by the hands. Its shakti (power) is the power to get things in your hand or to actualize your desires. This makes the eclipse a good time for the inner process of actualizing desires, but not the outer process. In other words, it can be good for visualizing and reflecting on something you want to achieve or create, but not a good time for beginning something important.
Hastha is also symbolized by two fists, indicating the tendency to fight. This is a good time to avoid serious discussions or arguments. In this regard, I would suggest a moratorium on arguing for a period of one month after the eclipse. In fact, this would be a great time to renounce argument all together, and adopt a more peaceful approach to disagreements.
For most purposes, a period of about 3 days on either side of the eclipse should be avoided for beginning new projects.
The mantra for this eclipse is Om Shri Hastha Nakshatra Devataye Namah.
